aitos.io steers trusted blockchain access of IoT terminals to achieve group standards
On February 23rd, 2022, a technical requirements group standard (T/TAF 111–2022) for trusted blockchain access of IoT terminals was approved by the Telecommunication Terminal Industry Forum Association(TAF). The major impetus of this standard was driven by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology(CAICT) along with aitos.io under the creative input and participation from an additional network of 20 well-known enterprises. The specific standard specifies the technical requirements for trusted blockchain access of IoT terminals, including the overall architecture, device functional and security requirements for trusted blockchain access of IoT terminals. The major significance of this technical requirements standard for IoT terminals is to help fill a well-understood void to implement relevant standards for trusted blockchain access of IoT terminals in China.
With the emergence of blockchain as a new trust-model for data, the tamper-resistance of IoT data once on the blockchain has been widely recognized. However, blockchain itself can only ensure that data is tamper-resistant after it is put on the blockchain, and the data on the blockchain must also be guaranteed to be real data generated by real IoT terminals, to validate the full lifecycle of data trust. The IoT terminal represents the starting point of data trust chain since it is the source of initial data collection.
The IoT terminal market is highly fragmented, with a wide variety of differing terminal devices already available in the field from many IoT projects in the past. It is precisely this fragmented environment which leads to the importance for standardization of technical requirements for Internet of Things data on-chain. Only after implementing these newly created standards can we ensure the security and reliability of the data, and formulate corresponding technical standards and specifications. Thus, the goal is to lead the way with significant reference guidance for all things with data on-chain functionality; then we can ensure credibility of on-chain data.
