Gary Xu, CTO of aitos.io, enthusiastically welcomed to deliver a welcome speech for new members of the Blockchain SIG during RISC-V Foundation’s Security Forum

The RISC-V forum is ramping up its focus on embedded security topics by organizing an online forum during April 14th, 2021 to highlight major security topics impacting RISC-V Foundation’s open architecture ecosystem. This “must-attend” event for serious security professionals was loaded with major security experts demonstrating and exchanging the latest view points on RISC-V security tools & solutions online. On the agenda included two major extensions to be ratified in 2021 for the TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) and Scalar Cryptography with an eye to how serious security professionals use these technology tools in the field.

Ms. Helena Hanschuh , Chairwoman of RISC-V International’s Security Committee kicked off the April 14th online Commencement keynote speech for the "RISC-V Security Overview". Adding to the highlights of the online virtual event were Mr. Gary Xu, CTO of aitos.io and Ms. Patty Tu, Senior Director of Wanxiang Blockchain. Both executives, serving as RISC-V Foundation’s first Chairman & Chairwoman of the Blockchain SIG working group, were invited to deliver an online updated summary of the latest state of affairs for the Blockchain SIG (Blockchain Special Interest Group). Gary Xu mentioned developing blockchain technology provides a new way for the trusted transmission of data value, and the same open RISC-V architecture provides a very suitable chip platform system for blockchain. Blockchain relies heavily on semiconductor chips in terms of security, privacy-preserving, and performance. For aitos.io, this is expressly suited for integration of applications for the Internet of Things and blockchain technologies. The open performance of the RISC-V architecture helps the industry in cost, performance and power. When matched up with the importance of obtaining higher security standards, the blockchain + Internet of Things offers unprecedented and extensive value to RSIC-V architecture. To ensure RISC-V instruction architecture can maximum value, Blockchain SIG will help the open source community to jointly implement blockchain technology with RISC-V chip architecture and related software ecosystems as industry requirements for performance and security include implementing privacy-preserving, cryptographic algorithms, trusted execution environments (TEE), data verification, integrity and provenance, etc. Synergies also exist for horizontal collaboration of the Blockchain SIG with other technical working groups of the RISC-V Foundation. This is strategically important expectation will ensure that community technical experts can implement blockchain application Proof-of-Concepts (PoC) projects based on the RISC-V chip architecture platform, and verify relevant software and hardware requirements.

About aitos.io

aitos.io is a technology start-up focusing on the integrated innovation of IoT and Blockchain. By combining its own rich resources in the IoT industry, aitos.io has raised the standard for a blockchain application framework BoAT (Blockchain of AI Things) with delivered via IoT chipset and module to enable IoT devices quickly implement trusted data on-chain and access the blockchain services. At the end of 2019, aitos.io and nine mainstream cellular wireless module manufacturers jointly initiated the Blockchain IoT Module alliance, and successively released their own brands of BoAT blockchain module products. This resulted in hundreds of millions of IoT devices equipped with the capability of blockchain services access as a trusted entry of IoT+Blockchain application. aitos.io’s vision is to leverage an alliance of global IoT vendors to empower them to tap the value of applications and data.

At the beginning of the project launch in the end of 2018, aitos.io received angel investment from the IoT industry expert group and strategic investment from Wanxiang Blockchain. In December 2018, aitos.io was awarded membership into ARM Accelerator Camp. In June 2019, aitos.io emerged as the founding member of China Unicom IoT and Wanxiang Blockchain IoT+Blockchain Joint Innovation Center. In November, aitos.io became a empowerment partner of Microsoft’s AI and IoT Lab . In August 2020, aitos.io transitioned into Tencent’s Blockchain Accelerator program as the first member. In February 2021, aitos.io joined RISC-V International as strategic member and initiated to form new Blockchain SIG (special interest group). In April, aitos.io initiated 1st China technical requirements standards for trusted blockchain access of IoT terminals.
